Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously - here's the straight talk on how we handle your info

Last Updated: November 7, 2025

Hey there! Look, we're just a flower shop in Vancouver trying to create beautiful arrangements and share our love for rare chrysanthemums. We're not in the business of selling your data or doing anything sketchy with your info. This policy explains what we collect, why we need it, and how we keep it safe. No legal mumbo-jumbo - just honest talk.

When you order flowers or sign up for our workshops, we need some basic stuff to make it all happen:

  • Contact details - Your name, email, phone number. Pretty standard, right? We need this to confirm orders and send you updates.
  • Delivery info - Address where you want those gorgeous blooms delivered. Can't teleport flowers yet (we're working on it).
  • Payment details - Credit card info gets processed through secure payment systems. We don't actually store your full card numbers on our end.
  • Order history - What you've bought before, so we can help you reorder your favorites or suggest similar arrangements.
  • Workshop registrations - If you're joining our botanical classes, we keep track of which sessions you've signed up for.
  • Website cookies - Little bits of data that remember your preferences and help our site work better for you.

We only grab what's necessary to run the business. Not interested in collecting random stuff we don't need.

We're not hoarding data for fun - there's actual reasons behind what we collect:

  • Processing orders - Can't deliver your wedding florals without knowing where the venue is, y'know?
  • Customer service - When you call with questions about that rare pyrethrum variety, we pull up your account to help you better.
  • Workshop coordination - Sending reminders about your upcoming botanical arrangement class, sharing prep materials, that sort of thing.
  • Marketing (if you opt in) - Newsletters about new chrysanthemum arrivals, seasonal specials, workshop announcements. You can unsubscribe anytime - no hard feelings.
  • Improving our service - Understanding what arrangements people love helps us stock the right stuff.
  • Legal compliance - Keeping records for tax purposes and following Canadian business regulations.

Bottom line: it's all about making your experience smooth and getting you the best flowers possible.

Security's important to us. Here's what we do to protect your info:

  • Encrypted connections - Our website uses SSL encryption. That little padlock in your browser? Yeah, that matters.
  • Secure payment processing - We use trusted payment gateways that meet PCI compliance standards. Your card details go straight to them, not through our systems.
  • Limited access - Only our core team members who actually need your info can see it. The intern helping arrange bouquets doesn't have access to customer databases.
  • Regular backups - Your data's backed up regularly in case something goes wrong with our systems.
  • Password protection - If you create an account, make sure you use a decent password. Don't use "password123" - please.

No system's 100% bulletproof, but we're doing everything reasonable to keep your info locked down.

We're not out here selling your email to spam lists. Here's the complete rundown of who might see your info:

  • Delivery services - Obviously, our couriers need addresses to drop off arrangements. They only get what's needed for that specific delivery.
  • Payment processors - Companies like Stripe or Square that handle credit card transactions securely.
  • Email service providers - If you're on our newsletter list, we use email platforms to send those out. They can't use your info for their own purposes.
  • Accounting software - For bookkeeping and invoicing. Gotta keep the tax folks happy.
  • Law enforcement (if required) - Only if we're legally obligated to hand over info. That's super rare and we'd resist unless there's a valid court order.

We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Period. That's not how we roll.

Yeah, we use cookies - not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately. Here's what's happening:

  • Essential cookies - These make the website actually function. Shopping cart, login sessions, that kind of thing. Can't really turn these off or the site breaks.
  • Analytics cookies - Help us see which pages people visit, how long they stay, what device they're using. It's all anonymous data so we can improve the site.
  • Preference cookies - Remember your settings and choices so you don't have to enter everything again each visit.

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. You can block 'em if you want, though some features might not work as smoothly.

We don't use those creepy ad-tracking cookies that follow you around the internet. Not our style.

It's your data, so you've got rights. Here's what you can do:

  • Access your info - Want to see what data we have on you? Just ask. We'll send you a copy.
  • Correct mistakes - If something's wrong in your account, you can update it yourself or we'll fix it for you.
  • Delete your data - Want us to erase your account and info? We'll do it, though we might need to keep some records for legal/tax reasons.
  • Opt out of marketing - Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're off the list immediately.
  • Withdraw consent - If you previously agreed to something, you can change your mind. No questions asked.
  • Data portability - Need your info in a format you can take elsewhere? We'll export it for you.

To exercise any of these rights, shoot us an email at hello@pyrethralforge.info or give us a call at (604) 875-3921. We'll get back to you within a couple days.

We don't keep your info forever - that'd be weird and unnecessary. Here's our retention approach:

  • Active customers - We keep your account info as long as you're using our services.
  • Inactive accounts - If you haven't ordered in a few years, we might reach out to see if you want to keep your account. Otherwise, we'll delete it.
  • Order records - Kept for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes, as required by Canadian law.
  • Marketing lists - If you unsubscribe, you're off the list right away. We might keep a record that you unsubscribed so we don't accidentally add you back.
  • Website analytics - Anonymized visitor data gets kept indefinitely since it doesn't identify individuals.

Basically, we hold onto stuff only as long as there's a legitimate reason to keep it.

Our services are aimed at adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you're under 18, please get a parent or guardian's permission before giving us your info or ordering anything.

If we find out we've accidentally collected data from a kid under 13, we'll delete it immediately. Parents, if you think this has happened, let us know right away.

We're based in Vancouver, BC, so we follow Canadian privacy regulations, specifically PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act). That's the federal law governing how private sector businesses handle personal info.

Key principles we follow:

  • Getting your consent before collecting, using, or sharing your personal info
  • Only collecting what's necessary for legitimate purposes
  • Keeping your data accurate and up-to-date
  • Protecting it with appropriate security measures
  • Being transparent about our practices (hence this policy!)
  • Giving you access to your information

If you have concerns about how we're handling your data, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. But hopefully we can sort things out directly first!

Sometimes we link to other websites - maybe flower care guides, our suppliers' sites, or social media. Once you click those links and leave our site, we can't control what happens to your data over there.

Those sites have their own privacy policies. We recommend checking them out before sharing any personal info. We're not responsible for how other sites operate - we can only speak for ourselves.

We might update this privacy policy from time to time - maybe laws change, or we add new services, or we realize we should clarify something better.

When we make changes, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top. If it's a significant change, we'll let you know more prominently - probably via email if you're on our list, or with a notice on the website.

It's worth checking back occasionally to see if anything's changed. We promise to keep it readable and not bury important stuff in legal jargon.

If you've got questions about this privacy policy, or concerns about how we're handling your data, or you just want to chat about chrysanthemums - we're here for it.

We'll get back to you as quickly as we can - usually within 2 business days. We're a small team, so if it's peak wedding season, it might take a bit longer, but we won't ghost you!

Thanks for taking the time to read through all this. We know privacy policies aren't exactly exciting, but we wanted to be totally upfront with you. At the end of the day, we're just passionate about flowers and want to serve our community honestly. Your trust means everything to us.
